She led a SPIRIT-FILLED life bursting with love, happiness, patriotism, sorrow, joy, heart-break, gratitude, sacrifice, hard-work, fashion, tragedy, independence, pride, HEART, disappointment, redemption, adventure, and faith which will be remembered for ages by anyone who closely knew her. It was a real legacy. Being a true Christian disciple, she made it her life's work to instill in her children and the generations to come from them a belief in the Holy Spirit that could shake the devil at his core.

Carla was born to Aubrey Allen "Buster" and Cleta Beatrice Beavers Manning on March 17, 1936 in Ford County. They raised her with a tight-knit extended family in Crowell, Texas. Her marriage to Harold Adon Burns was made official on March 1, 1953 and it marked the start of a real life love story. They were blessed with the births of their 5 children who were her healer, her heart, her Angel, her leader, and her fighter. She followed Adon all over Texas and New Mexico, but would ultimately call Hereford and Idalou her homes. Many friends and memories were made along her journey, but her greatest treasures are those who call her "Meme". Among them are 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and many of their friends whom she adopted as her own.

Her family clings to the absolute knowledge she was met at the gates of Heaven by Jesus. He was closely followed by those she has longingly awaited to meet again: her grandparents, her aunts and uncles, her parents and in-laws, most of her cousins whom she knew as siblings, her brothers and sisters by marriage, her sweetheart- Adon, her daughter- "Candy", her grandson- Trent, her granddaughter- Kari Ann, her great grandson- Cash, numerous nieces and nephews, along with countless Angel babies who she never had the pleasure of meeting.

Among those who remain on this side of Heaven to cherish her memory are: her son Aubrey Don and his wife Vonda of Lubbock, son Laprell and his wife Brenda of Henrietta, son Jimmy Jack and his wife Dalene of Friona, daughter Kayla and her husband Matt of Idalou, sister-in-love Hallie Burns of Paducah, a multitude of nieces and nephews, her few cousins, her beloved and adored grandchildren, their children, and their children.
