William "Gene" Chapman, age 75, of Nelson, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. He was born July 18, 1946 to Hoyt and Gladys Chapman in Macon, Georgia.
Gene is survived by his wife, Glenda Chapman of Nelson; children, Tina and Scott Jordan of Ball Ground; Jeannia Chapman of Nelson, Steven "Brother" and Susie Chapman of Talking Rock; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Stokes of Woodstock, Hazel Stokes of Macon; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Jacky Jarrett of Nelson. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Reverend Ryan Wilson, Reverend Jimmy Chester and Reverend Evan Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with E.W. Hightower Lodge #679 in charge of Masonic graveside rites.
Pallbearers will be Mark Eubanks, Ricky Eubanks, Corey Voyles, Lamar Holden, Jacob Chapman, Lane Jordan, Brenton Sperin, and Philip Wofford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randall Chapman, Shane Popham, and Jamie Gaddis.
The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
