He graduated from Menominee High School and resided in this area most of his life.
He married the former Carol Albrecht of Marinette on September 25, 1954.
Clayton had served as a Captain with the Menominee Fire Department and also worked as a manager for Goldstone Heating and Sheet Metal for 40 years. Clayton was most proud of his military service as a Sergeant in the Wisconsin National Guard and continued service as a Member of the Military 20-Year Club.
He is survived by his wife, Carol;
two daughters: Renee O'Farrell and Rhonda Clark;
three grandchildren: Callin (Rita) O'Farrell, Sasha (Jimmy) Hixson and Cara (Sam) Kinderman;
two great-grandchildren, Kian O'Farrell and Mira Hixson;
and a sister Karen Barnes.
In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Olson;
three sisters: Carol and Joyce Clark, and June Madden;
three brothers: Roger, John and Leland Clark;
and a son-in-law, Richard O'Farrell.
Clayton was a kind man who brightened the lives of everyone he met by lending a hand or sharing a story. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A private service with military honors will be held followed by entombment at Forest Home Mausoleum in Marinette.
