Eld. Ricky Hackett officiated at the 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon September 18th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Spivey family lot at the Pleasant Shade Cemetery.
Mr. Spivey was one of four sons and a daughter of the late Luke Hix Spivey who died at the age of 53 on October 12, 1964 and Annie Melvina Davis Spivey who died at the age of 62 on November 12, 1962 and was born Troy Wayne Spivey in Red Boiling Springs on June 8, 1943.
All three of his brothers preceded him in death, Tommy F. Spivey who died October 28, 2008 at the age of 73, Jackie Payton Spivey who died July 16, 1987 at the age of 78 and Wendell Spivey who died November 29, 1971 at the age of 31.
Mr. Spivey was married to his first wife, Pleasant Shade Community native Judy Mai Shoulders on September 3, 1965 and she preceded him in death at the age of 72 on June 27, 2017.
They were preceded in death by their daughter, Karen Renea Spivey who died as the result childhood illness at the age of 17 on December 8, 1987 and by a son, Terry Hix Spivey who died at the age of 34 on January 2, 2001 as the result of a single car accident after he suffered an apparent heart attack.
On August 9, 2019 he was united in marriage to Red Boiling Springs native and Brentwood resident, the former Carol Sue Bohanan, with whom he was privileged to spend over two years of happiness.
Mr. Spivey was a 1961 graduate of the Red Boiling Springs High School.
He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church at in the Pleasant Shade Community.
He was a member of the Difficult Masonic Lodge # 452.
He proudly served our country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on January 31, 1969 from the Army Reserve.
Surviving in addition to his wife of only twenty two months is his daughter, Emily Spivey Sterling and husband Aaron of the Pleasant Shade Community; sister, Shirley Taylor of Gamaliel, Kentucky Mrs. Spivey's daughter, Lisa Petty and husband Dan of Brentwood, and Mrs. Spivey's son, Michael Wood and his wife Joey of Conroe, Texas; sisters-in-law, Thelma Spivey of Red Boiling Springs, Lillian Spivey of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Teddy Spivey and his mother, Cathy Rutherford Spivey both of Carthage, Owen Sterling and Liam Sterling both of the Pleasant Shade Community.
