Mrs. C.A. Lambert Died Saturday

Family Who Arrived
In the Late 1870's

Mrs. Alice C. Lambert, 83, who had resided in the Pretty Prairie community since she was a girl died in St. Elizabeth hospital at Hutchinson early Saturday, December 11. She was ill only a short time and had been taken to the hospital only the evening before.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Hutchinson Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. John P. Haupt. Burial was in the Lone Star cemetery at Pretty Prairie.

Mrs. Lambert was born March 5, 1871, at Paxton, Ill., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hemphill. The family came to Kansas in the 1870's and settled on a farm north of Kingman in southern Reno county. Mr. and Mrs. Hemphill were charter members of the Kingman Presbyterian church when it was organized in 1879.

She was married to Charles A. Lambert March 7, 1900. They farmed near Pretty Prairie until 1946 when they moved to Hutchinson. They returned to the farm last May and lived with their daughter, Mrs. Martin Klepper.

Mrs. Lambert was a member of the Presbyterian church.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Klepper; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Milligan of Canon City, Colo., and Mrs. Ellen Crotts of Partridge; and two grandchildren.
