Myra was raised and spent most of her life living in Vacherie, LA. She was a special education teacher, specializing in working with and helping families. Myra retired from teaching and focused all of her efforts on being a devoted wife and mother, and running a private catering company.
Myra loved traveling, cooking and reading, but a good conversation with a family member or friend was her favorite pastime. She was a 1977 graduate of St. James High School, and continued her education at UNO and Nichols University. She was a devoted Jehovah's Witness, and was baptized on December 27, 1997.
Myra is preceded in death by her father Charles "Jumping Jack" Edgar and brother Charles Edgar Jr.
Her memories will forever be cherished by her children, De'Andra Brown, Curley Brown Jr. (Ranada), Sandia Brown-Davis (Ernest Jr.), and Janeka Brown; husband, Curley Brown Sr.; siblings, Adeline Williams, Lisa McKnight and Leslie Washington; bonus sister, Roxanne Reed; mother, Alvina Edgar; devoted nephews, Jarred and Jarvis Williams, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 East Airline Hwy., Gramercy, LA 70052. Visitation period will be from 9am-11am, with services beginning at 11am. Interment to follow at St. Philip Catholic Church, 1175 LA-18 (River Road), Vacherie LA 70090. Repass will immediately follow at New Hope Community Center, 2540 LA-20, Vacherie, LA 70090.
