Donald "Don" Hughes
Oct. 13, 1932 - Aug. 24, 2021


Don passed away from complications of Covid Aug. 24, 2021. He was preceded in death by over 4.5 million other Covid victims. Don resided at Clatsop Memory Care Facility in Warrenton, Ore., at the time of his death.
Don and his wife of 55 years lived in Beaverton, Ore., for over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 31 years retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant, being stationed in Vietnam, Korea, Berlin Germany and many stateside bases in the field of radar. He then went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 14 years. Finally he was able to enjoy his love of golf and people by working at the Reserve Golf Club for over 20 years. Don's other passion was making over 40 Tiffany Stained glass lamps, sharing with friends and family. Don never knew a stranger and loved to tease and laugh!
He was preceded in death by wife, Jean; and their son, Scott Hughes. He is survived by daughter, Dawna (Terry) who live in Long Beach, Wash.; grandson, Brian (Courtney); great-grandsons, Max and Ty.
Full Military Honor Service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, for all friends and family at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
