September 15, 2021, God called one of his beloved children back home to Heaven. Sara Margaret "Bunny" Nichols 78 of Shelbyville, TN passed away peacefully in her home among caring family and friends. Her death was preceded by her mother Sara Pursley and her brother, Richard Pursley.

Born August 30, 1943, in Barberton, Ohio and she was raised in Akron, Ohio. She graduated high school from Kenmore High School in 1962. In her adult years she worked hard and received her Nursing Degree at The University of Akron. She worked as an NICU nurse for 25+ years and finished her career at Nashville Metro General Hospital. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years Larry Nichols and a family of three children; son Jeffery R. Neel (wife Judy Neel) of Akron, OH, daughter Kelli G. Neel of Murfreesboro, TN, and son Jason G. Neel of Orange Beach, AL, along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Strong in her faith, Bunny and her husband Larry attended Light House Baptist Church and World Outreach Church.

Bunny was a traveler and always up for an adventure. She always used to say, "Don't ever let any grass grow under your feet", and she took that to heart always on the go with trips to Chattanooga, Gatlinburg, England, Spain, Mexico or wherever her passport or gas tank took her.

The family would like to thank Bunny's caregivers over the years Mamie Johnson, Christina Vogle, Immie Lagler, Mary Gutierrez, and the nurses from Compassus. We would also like to thank Linda WIlliams and Ruby Jett for all of their help and support.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2021, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Rasnick officiating. Burial will follow at Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, TN.

Visitation will be held prior to funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to ASPCA or to the Susan G. Koman Fund.

Doak-Howell Funeral Home is serving the family.

Sara Pursley passed gently away on the afternoon of Aug. 2, 2002.

She had a rich life full of family and friends, whom she loved and who loved her beyond measure.

She will be remembered by all those lives she touched. Her son, Richard Pursley and wife, Karen of Grand Rapids, Mich.; her daughter, Margaret "Bunny" Nichols and her husband, Larry of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jeff Neel and wife, Judy of Norton, Shawn Pursley and wife, Jean of Grand Rapids, Mich., Kelli Higginbotham and hus band, Forrest of Barberton and Jason Nee and wife, Marlee of Birmingham, Ala. Sara also had five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Patrick, Matthew, Kaitlyn, and Zeus; and many nieces and nephews.

Sara was born in Barnesboro, Pa., to Nancy and Arthur Lewis who predeceased her and her eight sib lings. She retired from the Summit County Recorders Office in 1990, where she made lifelong friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at 1 p.m. at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd., with Rev. Mark Archer officiating. Should friends desire, memorial contribu tions may be made to the Kenmore United Methodist Church. (Schlup- Pucak, 330-745-3131.)
