Oakville - Kathy Jo Smith went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2021 at Golden Living Center with family around her. She was born on September 24, 1953 at Ball Memorial Hospital.
Kathy was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church and a graduate of Southside High School. She worked at Pizza King on Madison Street, Burger King on Wheeling, and then Ball Memorial Hospital, where she was a tech on the heart floor before moving to 10 North, where she retired after 32 years. She went to James Dean Days every year and loved going to cruise-ins, where she and her husband showed their cars. She also enjoyed going to Dayton Beach, Florida every summer. She loved all animals and watching TV.
Kathy leaves behind her husband, Mike of Oakville; sister, Karen Nahre (David) of Muncie; and two dogs who were her kids, Moejo and Sam.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Theda Zearbaugh; father, Don Zearbaugh (Janie); and several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Living Center and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital 3 South PCU and 8 North for the great care given to Kathy.
Calling will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to ARF or any charitable organization of your choice.
