A funeral mass will be held for Philip Marvin Peters, Sr. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman, Texas. Father Randall Fogle will celebrate the mass. Interment will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sherman. A rosary will be said on Wednesday, September 15, at 6:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Adlof reciting the rosary. The family will greet friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday. Phil passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, at home with his wife at his side.

Philip was born on October 26, 1954 to Marvin George and Caroline Peters in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He was the oldest of four children, Gaylon, Charles, and Arlene. He was raised in Pomeroy, Iowa on the family farm. He attended schools in Pomeroy and graduated in 1971. Phil was a machinist and worked at several places before taking a job with Texas Instruments in 1978 which brought him and his family to Sherman. He married the love of his life, Alisa on May 15, 1980. They had two children, Heather Michelle and Philip Jr. Philip retired from Raytheon in 2020.

Phil spent many years powerlifting and bodybuilding and held several records nationally, including 5th place at the Mr. America Bodybuilding Competition in 1988. Phil was a devoted Catholic his entire life and was once the youngest alter boy in the state of Iowa at the age of four. He loved St. Mary's and served on several boards and helped create the St. Mary's Rosary Guild. Phil loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as often as he could. He loved motorcycles and collected hot wheels as well. He will be greatly missed.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Caroline, brother Gaylon, and his brother Charles. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alisa; daughter, Heather Peters; son, Philip Peters, Jr. and wife Brenda; five grandchildren: Tanner Wallace, Eddie Peters, Emily Peters, Samuel Peters, and Jacob Peters; and two great-grandchildren: Eddie and Hailey Peters.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Rosary Guild.
