Earl Ross Price, 94, of Rockwall, Texas went home to his Lord and Savior, after sustaining injuries to his neck from a fall on March 3. He passed away on March 8, 2021. Earl was born June 11, 1926 in Winningkoff, Texas, southeast of McKinney. His parents were Emmett Lonzo "Lon" Price and Millie May (Turner) Price. Earl's hardest time in life was his childhood. At the age of six he lost his father to tuberculosis during the Great Depression leaving his family of eight children and his mother in destitute conditions. Everyone in the family had to work including six-year-old Earl. By the time he was eight, he was buying his own clothes and contributing toward helping the family with food. Earl graduated from Nevada High School in 1944.

Since Earl was now 18, and World War II was still ongoing, he joined the United States Navy. While stationed in Memphis, Tennessee, he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Lou Hardin. They were married on December 24, 1944 in Hernando, Mississippi. When the war ended Earl attended Southern Methodist University, on the GI Bill. Lon, the first child, was born in 1946. It became difficult balancing family life, working, and attending school. Earl dropped out of school and began his career in the oil business that lasted 50 years. He worked up the ladder of success starting with field oil exploration to being a Senior Geophysicist. The family moved many times in a mobile home, living in many states in the United States. Throughout his career he was an active member of various petroleum and geophysical societies.

Years later, Earl returned to Southern Methodist University to finish his degree in Mathematics. He graduated in 1970, just three years before his daughter Becky graduated from North Texas State University.

Earl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lavon for seven years. He was a Past Master of the Empire Masonic Lodge 586 in Nevada, Texas. He was the oldest member that Lodge ever had, receiving his 70-year pin in 2020.

Earl was the last survivor among his siblings. He lived longer than any of the men in his family for four generations. His sister Faye Stanfield, who passed away last year, lived to be 98.

For a more detailed account of his life, his book; There You Have It, the Memoirs of Earl Ross Price, is available on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/There-You-Have-Memoirs-Price/dp/B08HT566Z9

Surviving Earl are his children, Lon Price of Los Angeles, California; Becky Sander-Cederlof (Bob) of Rowlett, Texas; and Bob Price (Nancy) of Portland Oregon. Earl also leaves a beloved legacy of seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. His wife Bonnie of 70 years, his brothers and sisters and his parents preceded him in death.

The family will have a private Burial Service at the Nevada Cemetery, Nevada, Texas on March 13, 2021. The public Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 1:00 pm, at the First Baptist Church of Lavon, in Lavon, Texas.
