Born on February 20, 1959, in Marshalltown, he was one of five children born to Clifford and Maxine (Buss) Wilson. He grew up in the Marshalltown area and graduated from BCLUW in 1977.

Curtis and Julie Wagner were blessed with two children. He was a self-employed "Jack of all trades," including carpentry, maintenance, delivery, and time as a locksmith. He enjoyed anything outdoors; fishing, hunting, and morel mushroom hunting. Curtis loved to travel, especially on his fishing trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin. He was passionate about environmental causes and natural history.

Though he sometimes could be a "grumpy Gus," he was incredibly kind-hearted and empathetic. He showed his heart in the little things and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved children and animals, especially enjoying his time spent with his grandkids. He was a member of Journey Church in Marshalltown.

Surviving are his children, Sami Montgomery (Kyle Felkner) and Caleb (Jessica) Wilson; grandchildren Keaton and Jade; his significant other, Lori Halverson; siblings: Connie (Bob) Yates and Scott (DeanNa) Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Nancy Kirkdoffer and Denise Yantis.
