James Coker passed away Sunday evening, September 12, 2021 at his home in Shaw, MS.

There will be a graveside service held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home prior to the service.

JC was born May 1, 1946 to the late Corbett Layfayette Coker and Lula Elenora Goodwin Coker in Batesville. JC was a carpenter by trade and a supervisor for Frame Picture. He was of the Baptist faith. In his spare time, JC enjoyed squirrel hunting and fishing. He could often be found sitting on the porch bird watching. JC also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.

The family he leaves behind who will miss him most includes his children, Christie Coker Tolbert (Bill) of Shaw, MS., Michael James Coker of Lafayette, LA.; one sister, Maxine Chrestman of Oxford, MS.; one grandchild, Lula Paislie Tolbert.
