Gayle was born June 26, 1949, the eldest daughter of John Newton "Tom" and Barbara Delores (Miller) Woods. She worked for many years caring for patients in local nursing homes and later as a physical therapy assistant at Cooper County Memorial Hospital. Gayle loved romance novels and western movies, Dale Earnhardt racing, big family dinners and animals — especially her dogs Gretchen and Jack.
She is survived by her mother; one brother, Tommy Woods and wife Diane of Boonville; three sisters, Donna Hilden and partner Pat Schuster, Karen Reid and partner Brad Terrell, and Jeana Welliver and husband Roger, all of Boonville; two nephews, Mike Woods of Little Rock, Ark. and Steven Welliver of Los Angeles, Calif.; three nieces, Steph Woods and Caitlyn Poet of Boonville and Bethany Schmitt of New Franklin, Mo.; and two great nieces, MaKayla Woods of Fairmount, Ind. and Lizzie Poet of Boonville.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Steve Woods.
