Obituary for Mr. Kenneth James Stephens Sr.
Stephens– Kenneth "Kenny" James Stephens Sr. age 58, of Jasper, Florida passed away on September 7, 2021, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, in Jacksonville, FL. Kenneth was born in Starke, FL on July 12, 1963, to the late Freddie Monroe Stephens, Sr. and Vonda Gayle Starling Stephens. Kenny was raised in Starke, FL and attended Bradford High School. Shortly after high school Kenny enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for 1 year 1 month and 1 day. In 1984, Kenny married the love of his life Tammy Hall Stephens and together they spent 30 beautiful years together. In 1987, Kenny relocated to Jasper, FL for a job opportunity as a correctional officer at Hamilton County Correctional Institution during this time he was promoted to Captain before retiring in 2008. He enjoyed his retirement for two years and then decided to get back into what he loved, so Kenny took a job as Captain at Lake City Correction Institution in 2011 and has been employed there until now. Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Kenny was a mama's boy who loved his mama dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. Kenny was loved deeply and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father; wife; and brother, Paul "Stevie" Darren Stephens.

Kenneth is survived by his mother, Vonda Gayle Stephens of Starke, FL; his children, Kenneth (Ricci) James Stephens Jr. of Mount Dora, FL, Kyle (Sadie) Stephens of Jasper, Fl, and Michael Hall of GA; brother, Freddie (Charleen) Monroe Stephens, Jr. of Brooker, FL; grandchildren, Ashden, Carter, Jordan, Collin, Gavin and Reid.

A Celebration of Kenny's Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Archie Tanner memorial chapel with Bro. Freddie Stephens, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Crosby Lake Cemetery Starke, FL. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
