Valerie "Val" Allen, 59, returned to her heavenly home on January 5, 2019, in Austin, Texas after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Valerie was born to Ernest and Vernell Schneider, a veteran and oil man and a homemaker respectively, in Marlin, Texas on October 25, 1959. She grew up in Rockdale, Texas and there she met her best friend and husband, Waylon at the age of 15 at Rockdale High School. They married on June 12, 1983 in Rockdale, Texas. Valerie and Waylon moved to Austin in 1983 to plant roots and raise their family. She was immersed in the Christian community at Redeemer Lutheran Church that provided her lifelong support and friendships. Valerie raised her three children with Christ-centered love and kindness. Her heart was full when her family was around and more than anything she loved showering her husband, children and grandchildren with love. She was an avid prayer and believed strongly in the power of prayer and bringing people together to pray. Valerie also found success creating her own jewelry line in 2006, Valerie Allen Jewelry. She loved creating new designs and sharing her jewelry with all of those in her life.

Valerie was always a mother at heart. She always made time to help friends or the friends of her children whether that be providing food, love, time, or financial support. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.

She will be loved and remembered by her husband and high school sweetheart, Waylon Allen, her children, Erika and Landon Shanks, Blake and Adriana Allen, and Paige and Travis Sheffield, and her parents, Ernest and Vernell Schneider. Valerie will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Braydon, June, David, and Cooper, by her brothers and sisters, Roy Allen, Joan Schneider, Myron and Patty Schneider, and Tom and Sandra Drake, and by countless nieces, nephews, and friends who witnessed Christ's love through Valerie.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78705.

A funeral service in memory of Valerie will be held on Tuesday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church 1500 W Anderson Ln, Austin, TX 78757.
