Judith Esther Femat passed away peacefully on September 8, 2021. A Lifelong resident of Mission, Texas, she was born to the late Tubircio and Francisca Femat on August 12, 1927 in Mission, Texas. Judy attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and graduated from Mission High School in 1946. Her bubbly and endearing personality helped her as she served on the Mission High School cheerleading team from 1944 to 1946. She went on to attend McAllen Business College where she studied accounting. Judy became a partner in the family business of T Femat & CO. which was a wholesale business in the area. She was also a pillar in her community where she served on committees and boards with the Texas Citrus Fiesta, Chamber of Commerce Mission Historical Museum and held numerous other roles throughout her very active community service life. She was also a member of the Hidalgo County Pan American Round Table. Her active involvement in the community led to the honor of being named Mission's "Woman of the Year" in 1988. As a devout Catholic, Judy attended Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church where she received her sacraments as a young girl. She was a very active member of the Hijas de Maria, Guadalupanas and the Damas Catolicas of which her mother had been a founding member in 1928. Judy's charismatic personality and upbringings drew people to her and she always made them feel welcomed and was ready to lend a helping hand, thus her circle of friends and loved ones was a big one. She was blessed to have traveled extensively making friends long the way. One of her great joys, aside from spending time with family, was to gather with her "comadres" for holidays and birthdays. She was also an avid bowler and was on several bowling teams in the area.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers; Carlos, Raul and Javier Femat, and her sisters Sara Femat Garza and Rebeca Femat Peña. She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews; Juan Jaime Garza, Gloria Garcia, Rodolfo, Hugo and Dante Peña; Helen Carol Fisher, Rebecca Berletch, Rebeca Velasco, Carlos and Ruben Femat and Dora de la Garza; Javier, Jorge , Ramiro Femat, Norma Mehis, Mary Clary, Sonia Cantu. Pallbearers will be her loving nephews, Juan Jaime Garza, Rodolfo Peña, Carlos Femat, Ruben Femat, Dante Peña, Hugo Peña, Javier Femat, Ramiro Femat and Jorge Femat. Honorary pallbearers will be her beloved comadres Elida Hinojosa, Lucille de la Garza and Olivia Acevedo. The viewing will be on Thursday, September 16th, 2021 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home from 1pm to 9 pm with a rosary at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 17th, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens at 1:00 pm. The family request that all Covid-19 guidelines be followed including facial masks and social distancing to ensure the safety of all.
