SEPTEMBER 14, 1931 – SEPTEMBER 12, 2021
Dewey Elton Jenkins, formerly of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. He was born in Page County on September 14, 1931, the only son of the late Elvin William and Della Virginia (Meadows) Jenkins.

Dewey was owner of Jenkin's Music Store in Waynesboro and he, along with his wife, had their own country music band. They were active for years in showing dogs in AKC obedience events. He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Catherine S. ("Kitty") Jenkins, on October 18, 2000, and a sister, Mildred Knott.

Survivors include his sister, Sue Holmes, and her husband, Steve, of Stanley; a niece, Kim Chetto and a nephew, Windall Faine; and very special friends and neighbors, Don and Judy Fox.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Oak Lawn Mausoleums and Memory Gardens, 1921 Shutterlee Mill Rd., Staunton with Pastor Todd Brown officiating. Military rites will be provided at the graveside. There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to contribute to the Augusta County Regional SPCA or local rescue squads. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
