Baton Rouge, LA ----– A Celebration of Life for Derrick Vance Warren, II, 35, will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Renew Church, 10915 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. Rev. Checkerz Williams, Pastor.

Rev. Jon Bennet, Pastor of Belfair Baptist Church, where he worshipped, will officiate the service.

He will be laid to rest at Southern Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M., Wednesday until time of services at the church.

Due to COVID restrictions, all viewing and attending services will be required to wear a mask at all times, and temperature check upon entering church.

Derrick was born on Wednesday, June 11, 1986 to the union of Derrick Vance and Anita Major Warren in Tampa, FL, the first child born of three children. He was baptized at an early age at the St. Matthews M.B.C., Tampa, Florida – Bishop James Howell. He attended school in Tampa, FL, Lexington, KY, Alpharetta, GA, Lewisville, CO., Roswell, GA. and was a graduate of Centennial High School (Roswell) class of 2004. Following high School, Derrick attended Morehouse College where he majored in Physics. He later transferred to Southern University and was a senior Computer Science major. While at Southern, Derrick was passionate about learning and helping others succeed. He served as President of the Association for Computing Machinery and also worked as an Information Technology Intern for the Southern University Alumni Federation managing the newsletter, assisting with website maintenance and membership related analytics. Friends fondly called him "D Heav" and family referred to him as 'Lil' Derrick and "D2". After graduation, he planned to further his studies in Data Science and Information Systems.

Derrick was an avid sports (diehard Falcons and Hawks) and video game fan. He was also a scholar and academician who was very proud of his digital credentials/badges (over 20) and other educational accolades. What made him extra special was his desire to help others achieve the same. A loyal friend, he enjoyed fellowshipping, supporting others and spending time with family and friends. His unexpected passing leaves a void, but we know that his memory will live on in those who knew and loved him.

Derrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Calvin Warren and his maternal grandmother, Alberta Williams; two uncles, Bobby Major and Tommy Allen and one aunt, Mary Long. Derrick suddenly, yet peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Atlanta GA. "GONE TOO SOON"
