Katherine Mullins, 56, of Burkburnett went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021.
The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Burkburnett Cemetery Pavilion with Pastor James Porterfield, officiating.
Katherine was born on November 29, 1964 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Floyd and Ida Porterfield. She attended school in Burkburnett where she graduated in 1983. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Burkburnett where she served faithfully. Katherine was once a choir member, supported Vacation Bible School, published meeting minutes, and was learning to run the sound board. Katherine loved spending time with her family, especially her grand kids. She loved them deeply and was always taking care of everyone else.
Katherine married her high school sweetheart, Monty Mullins, on June 11, 1982. Early on in her life she helped manage a day care while she and Monty were members of the Wichita Foster Care Association. They welcomed several children in their home over the years. She also worked in the cafeteria at Burkburnett Elementary. Children have always held a special place in her heart. Katherine started her professional career in 2004 at United Regional Health Care where she worked until recently. She provided a calming and peaceful demeanor in any situation.
Katherine is preceded in death by her father, Floyd Porterfield on May 10, 2015.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Monty Mullins; and two sons, Wesley and wife Michelle, and Steven and Megan all of Burkburnett. Other survivors include her mother, Ida Porterfield; brother, Wayland Porterfield of Burkburnett; sister, Connie Stone and husband Ronnie of Wichita Falls; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Katherine had eight grandchildren that she loved dearly, Sarah, Anthony, Aaleyah, Ariana, JJ, Kyle Keith, Chloe Helm and Jackie Helms.
The family suggests memorials be made to Central Baptist Church in Burkburnett, Texas.
