Afton, Lloyd "Bud" 2/22/1932 - 9/12/2021 After 89 years Bud has given up this life to join his beloved wife June who passed away eight years ago after 62 years of marriage. Bud is survived by his children, Mike and Kathy Afton of Rockford, Teresa and Fred Gebauer of Belmont, Larry and Kim Afton of Ada, and Dan and Barb Afton of Portage; his grandchildren, Joni, Julia, Jon and Britany, Thomas, Jacob, Katie, Nicklas, and Ryan; as well as four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Bud spent his working career at Muskegon Piston Ring and was an avid outdoorsman, spending many years enjoying his cabin on the Pere Marquette River. He served many years on the school board of Kent City Public Schools. Bud's last few years were at Boulder Creek Assisted Living where he received excellent care and met many special people. He also received wonderful care from Emmanuel Hospice and the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel Hospice in Bud's name. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the Hessel-Cheslek Funeral Home, 88 E Division Street in Sparta. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the Funeral Home from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 Burial will take place in Idlewild Cemetery.
