Marissa Jean Smith, 35, of Great Mills, MD passed away on February 1, 2021 at her home.
Born March 24, 1985 in Baltimore, MD, she is the daughter of Evelyn Rassa Summerlin and the late Matthew Smith. Marissa was a true "Diamond in the Rough". Known to have a huge heart with an extremely sensitive side and caring personality, she was also known to have a very strong personality and expressed herself in a clear, raw, and uncut manner. She was just as much into hair, makeup, and fashion as she was into hobbies such as boxing. Marissa's greatest achievement was her daughter, Arianna. She had a huge place in her heart for her family and also had a special love for animals; especially for her Pomeranian, Riley. She adored elephants, comparing herself to them in the sense she had a memory like an elephant. Her presence was undeniable and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her loving mother, Evelyn Rassa Summerlin and stepfather, Stephen C. Summerlin of Lexington Park, MD, she is also survived by her daughter, Arianna A. Montgomery of Lexington Park, MD, her sisters Maria K. Smith of Lexington Park, MD, Marta Hirshman of Washington, D.C., and Michele Hapsis of Baltimore, MD, her nephews Amer Smith of Great Mills, MD and Kaedon R. Smith of Lexington Park, MD, her niece, Jolisa T. Thompson, of Great Mills, MD, her grandmother, Mary Brutch of Baltimore, MD, aunts, uncle, cousins, and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Monica L. Smith, her father, Matthew Smith, and her grandfather, Daniel Brutch.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Christ, 44850 St. Andrews Church Rd, California, MD 20619 on Sunday, February 14th at 2:00 PM.
