Charlene was a resident of Fox Lake for many years, then moved to Brantford, Ontario in 1964, after a few years she decided to move back to Fox lake, IL. In 1970 she moved to Dixon, IL and lived there until she moved to McHenry to take care of her mom in 2000. While living in Fox Lake she worked at Department Stores like Globe, Klines, and Bergner Weise, she also worked at Raynor Garage Store in the office. When her children found her yearbook, they found out her ambition was to have a family and she reached her ambition and had five beautiful children (4 boys and 1 girl). It has been said that Charlene was an excellent cook, and everyone would drop by to taste the meal of the day. She was a kind, caring, loving, compassionate, the best mom a son could ever ask for and she loved her family and friends and the time they all spent together those are the memories that will be cherished by everyone. Charlene and her significant other John have spent many years traveling to see the country in their motor home and have been happy together for 21 years.
She is survived by her children: Richard (Judith) Van Kirk, Therese (Kent) Hamilton, Scott Van Kirk; grandchildren: Jacob Van Kirk, Emily Avelar, Jessica (Nick) Machacek, Andrew Avelar, Conner Van Kirk; great grandchildren: Maddex Van Kirk, Jackson Machacek; brother: John W. Lumber, and sister: Mary Olander; nephews: James and Robert Lumber; sister-in-law: Barbara Lumber; significant other: John Miron.
Charlene is preceded by husband: Richard Van Kirk; sons: James and Timothy Van Kirk; brother: F. James Lumber; nephew: John J. Lumber; parents: Frank Bud Lumber and Evelyn Rose (Amann) Lumber.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her, but she will never be forgotten.
The Family would like to thank Crystal Pines Nursing Home and Journey Care Hospice for all that they have done.
