Betty Anne FREEMAN

Betty Anne Freeman, 78, of Perryton, Tx passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 after a short illness. A memorial service to celebrate Betty Anne's life will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Perryton with Dr. Rev. Mert Cooper officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Betty Anne was born on March 27, 1943 in Topeka, Ks to A.P. and Ruby Ann (Neufeld) McCelvey but soon moved to Perryton as a baby. She spent her entire life in Perryton. She graduated from Perryton High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from WT A&M in 1965 with a degree in Special Education. While in Canyon, she married the love of her life, Wendell, and in December of 2021 they would have been married for 58 years. After returning to Perryton, she spent 27 years teaching Special Ed in the Perryton school system and was noted for her love and compassion of her students. B.A. (as her friends called her) was active in her community, earning the Kiwanis' Work Horse of the Year, and was recognized as Perryton's Citizen of the Year in 2008. She was also very active as a Board member of the Museum of the Plains for many years, a Session member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, OGH Pink Ladies, Hospice, and the Panhandle Crisis Center. She remained active in many of these organizations until her death.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Wendell, of the home; son, Jeff Freeman of Perryton, Tx; daughter, Christi and Mike Bryan of Midlothian, Tx; a brother, Bob and Ann McCelvey of College Station, Tx; five grandchildren, Katy Stanfield, Kylie Bryan, Micalla Garcia, Brad Bryan and Blake Bryan; and seven great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all of them and her many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials for Betty Anne be sent to the Museum of the Plains, 1200 N Main, Perryton, Tx 79070 or one's favorite charity.
