William Edward "Ed" Tipton

Ed Tipton was a fighter and a survivor. He fought long and hard. At the age of 90, he lost his last fight passing away peacefully.
Ed started fighting at a very young age when he almost died from asthma. That fight continued with a normal life fighting with his parents and brothers. At 16 he became the man of the house when his father passed away. At the age of 17 he became a Marine to fight for his country, where he ended up at Heartbreak Ridge during the Korean War. Ed fought for his family and what he believed in.
While on leave from Camp Pendleton he met the love of his life. As he told people "he picked her up off the street". That was literally what happened. After a rain storm in Waco he saw a pretty young woman slip and fall in a puddle. He reached down and picked her up. Two years later they were married.
From that love story the couple created three amazing daughters whom he loved very much, keeping a protective and watchful eye on them till the end, even when work took him away from home more than he was there.
Education was important to Ed. He received his Associate's Degree from TCC at the age of 50 in photography. That, along with writing, was his passion outside of work and family. At one time his photos were sold in the Ft. Worth Stockyards. He had also been published in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.
Ed's faith was deep. In his teens and twenties he taught and preached. He passed his faith on to his family and anyone who would listen.
We all knew it was time for him to go home to be united with his Lord and Savior, as well as many family members he missed.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Jeanne (Goodwin) Tipton, daughters, Karen Wieland and Cheryl Gideon. Four grand children who cherished him, two great-grandsons, along with many other family and friends who loved him dearly.
Preceded in his death were his parents, Lee and Effie (Kinsey) Tipton, brothers Robert, Thomas and JD and his oldest daughter, Deborah Kunze.
The family elected to have a family only graveside service due to COVID-19. He will be buried close to his daughter at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless, Texas...Forest Ridge Funeral Home.
