Her husband Andrew was stationed with the 7th Cavalry, Fort Riley, Geary County, Kansas during the cholera epidemic, passing away 11 Sep 1866 at the age of 44.
Their eldest son Andrew Clarence married Mary J. (nee Smith). They had two girls:
1869– Mildred A "Millie" McBratney (Allen, d. 1949).
1876– Grace Isabel "Bell" McBratney (Brigham). The last of these girls coincides with her grandmother's obituary.
A second marriage is possible, to Laura E. Weaver.
In 1884, Charles married Frances R. of Iowa. They had 5 (grand) children:
1889, New York – John C. McBratney
1890, Iowa– Frank McBratney
1891– Katie McBratney
1893– Maud McBratney
