Barbara "Butterfly" Barnes-George, age 91, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, passed away, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Born September 4, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Thomas and Lucille Barnes, "Butterfly" had devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and licensed realtor and broker. "Butterfly" graduated from St. Agnes High School in Memphis, Tennessee, attended the University of Mississippi and received an associates degree from Motlow College in accounting. In college, she was a Phi Mu Sorority Member of the University of Mississippi. She was a founding partner of First Choice Realty of Tullahoma, Tennessee, an all female owned business, and was a leading realtor of Coffee County, Tennessee for more than ten years. "Butterfly" was a multi-million-dollar producer on several occasions. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Tullahoma, Tennessee and former member and president of The Altar Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a founding member of the St. Paul's Valentine Bridge Fundraiser. Barbara "Butterfly" Barnes-George will be missed dearly by her loving friends and family.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn George, Sr., who was a World War II Naval Veteran, that worked at Arnold Air Force Base, retiring in 1988 and passed away in 2002; two brothers, Tommy Barnes and Roy Barnes; one sister, Shirley Hoffman; and one son in law, James Warren, Jr.

Survivors include her four children, Wilburn (Connie) George, Jr., Robert (Bridget) George, Teresa Warren, Gwyn (David) Van Winkle; nine grandchildren, Bryan (Karen) Van Winkle, James (Amanda) Warren III, David (Katie) Van Winkle Jr., Luke (Stephanie) Van Winkle, Tommy (Thea) Warren, Jonathon (Andrea) Hershman, Megan Hershman, Caitlin (Matt) George and Sean Hershman; twelve great grandchildren, Eva Van Winkle, Anna Van Winkle, Blake Warren, Abriella Hershman, Cate Warren, Will Warren, Bronco Van Winkle, Kennedy Van Winkle, Mia Van Winkle, York Warren, Sasha Van Winkle and Sienna Van Winkle; one sister, Margie Rossie Turk of Jackson, Mississippi; and special sister in laws, Ann Barnes from Memphis, Tennessee and Judy Barnes of Fairhope, Alabama.

Private graveside services are scheduled for this week at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either: St. Paul's Apostle Church Youth, 304 W Gizzard St., Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388 or Tullahoma Day Care, P.O. Box 478, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.
