Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Village Chapel in Alabama City for Ray Verbon Bradley, 83, Gadsden, who died Jan. 28, 2011. The Rev. Jay Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bradley served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 44 years of service and was a member of Dwight Masonic Lodge. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, and he was an avid Alabama football fan. Mr. Bradley was a member of Dwight Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Bradley; parents, Mary and Leonard Bradley; brothers, Ralph (Mary) Bradley and Robert (Juanita) Bradley; and sister, Margaret Bickerstaff.
Mr. Bradley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita Campmire Bradley; sons, Eddie (Lisa) Bradley and Mark (Vicki) Bradley; six grandchildren, Jamie Bradley, Jeremy (Angelina) Bradley, Holly and Eric Bradley, Amber Perkey and Alyssa Perkey; and four great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Dwight Baptist Church Building Fund at 520 N. 29th St. Gadsden, AL 35904.
Pallbearers will be Chris Barnett, Chris Walker, Jerry Rodgers, Jim Clouse, Bobby West and Jerry "Booie" Chambers.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and members of his Sunday School class at Dwight Baptist Church, eighth-floor nurses and staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and Drs. Corley, Head and Bridges.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
