Barbara B. Ewell, 95, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Gino D. Beale and Mildred Schmus Beale.
Barbara graduated from Maury High School in 1944, she was a long-standing member of Christ and Saint Luke's Episcopal Church with many years of service in the Children's Chapel. Barbara was the owner of Bits and Pieces of Ghent dollhouse shop in Norfolk for over thirty years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lt. Col Fredrick S. Ewell. Survivors include her son, Jeff Ewell and his wife, Sandy of Norfolk; grandchildren, Kelly Wittwer and husband, Jay, Katie Orton and husband, Terrell all of Norfolk. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Amelia, Norah, and Maci; her niece, Diana Mcleod and husband, Greg of Virginia Beach; extended family, Tommy and Anne Gurganous, their children, Tom and Lauren and their families as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk, with the Rev. Canon Win Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will receive friends at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
