Herzog Heinrich Borwin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin [full given name: Heinrich Borwin Albert Hugo Joseph Paul] was the son of Herzog Paul von Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his wife, Prinzessin Marie zu Windisch-Graetz. Although his father was Lutheran, his mother was Roman Catholic and their children were raised in the religion of their mother. Their father would convert to Roman Catholicism in 1887. He was married at Dover on June 15, 1911 to Elizabeth Tibbits Pratt. Their marriage was annulled on April 14, 1913. He was married in 1915 to Natalie Oelrichs, as American heiress. They were divorced June 4, 1921. His first two marriages were not recognized by the head of the family, the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. His third marriage was considered morganatic and took place at Rome on November 5, 1921 to Carola von Alers. He had no children by any of his marriages.
