Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Edith Jean Walker Harris passed away September 8, 2021 at her home in Lindon surrounded by family.

Jean was born March 21, 1932, in Lindon Utah, the twelfth of 15 children, to Leonard Santford Walker and Edith Eliza Stagg.

She is survived by her husband, Nyle Harris, seven children: Nikki Roundy, Jeffrey (Cherie) Harris, Kelly (Brett) Bezzant, Toni (Dale) Wright, Cheryl (Alan) Holdaway, Mark (Kim) Harris, and Tanya (Paul) Jarvis, 37 grandchildren and 102 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Boyd and Royce Walker, and one sister, Judy Pyne Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, granddaughter, Kylee Bezzant, grandson-in-law, Bret Blakey and great-grandson, Hyrum Hatch.

She grew up on the family farm sharing chores with her siblings. She loved to play dress up and having seven older sisters, there was never a shortage of clothes. When in these clothes, she was the most beautiful movie star and could really sing. Her Dad grew tomatoes and the tomato boxes made ideal playhouses and breaking off the willow of a tree made the fastest stick horses ever. Later she enjoyed riding real horses and her favorite was Tarz.

She attended Lindon Elementary School and Pleasant Grove High School. Her twelfth year was spent at Trade Tech where she studied business and she graduated from high school in 1950.

She sent her sweetheart, Nyle T Harris, on his mission to Western Canada Oct 21, 1948. They stayed close through letters and upon his return Nov 5, 1950, they took up their courtship and were married Nov 29, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

She was known and remembered for her sassy wit and stunning looks, which she maintained with the help of weekly appointments at Robert's Beauty Salon. She loved many family get-togethers including epic costume-themed birthday parties with her daughters and granddaughters and she always had a secret stash of chocolate, candy bars, thin mints or cookies to share.

In 1980 she went to work as a Teacher's Aide for Alpine School District and retired in September 1992.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She and Nyle served together as missionaries in the Philippines, Cebu Mission from 1994-1995. They also served 12 years together as ordinance workers in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., Sept 16, 2021 at the Lindon 19th Ward chapel, 731 E Center, Lindon. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
