Haley was born on November 29, 1933, in Xenia, the son of Frank and Lillie Mae Jones Griffith. He married Donna L. Smith on June 11, 1960, 3rd Presbyterian Church in Springfield. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2016.
Haley graduated from Flora High School in 1950 and attended Parks Air College in St. Louis, MO. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Haley worked at CWLP for eight years, IB Local 51 Construction for 10 years, and Northern and Southern Railroad for 16 years. He was an active member of Real Life Church for 35 years and taught adult Sunday School for 8 years. Haley was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and birdwatching. Haley was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching baseball. Above all, he adored his family and spending time with them.
Haley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eber, Clifford, Chester, Forest, and Lenny; and sisters, Elsie and Helen.
He is survived by his sons, Daryl Griffith of Springfield, David (Christine) Kline of Villa Grove, and Stephen (Naomi) Griffith of Jefferson City, MO; daughter, Sarah Rogers of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brothers, Floyd Griffith of Springfield, and Jesse (Jeanie) Griffith of Sterling.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Real Life Church, 2701 Hermitage Rd., Springfield, IL 62703. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Burris officiating. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
