Robert James "Jim" McArthur passed away on September 9, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 82. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, retired veteran, and loyal employee.

Jim was born in El Paso, Texas to Jesse J. and Estelle Trammel McArthur on March 15, 1939. On April 23, 1956, at the age of 17, he joined the United States Air Force and retired 21 years later on February 28, 1977. He served two tours in Vietnam, served at the Pentagon with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and worked at Cheyenne Mountain with NORAD in Colorado Springs.

After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to Robeline, Louisiana, the hometown of his wife, Linda Cotten McArthur. He retired from Dimension Development in Natchitoches, Louisiana after working there for 23 years as a computer programmer.

Jim and Linda traveled thousands of miles between military and camping. He loved to take his grandchildren and friends on trips. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda McArthur; children, Kelly McArthur of Bakersfield, California; Scott Moon and partner Jonathan Welch of Galveston, Texas; Kristi Malone and husband John of Bossier City; and Tricia Champagne and husband Cody of Robeline; grandchildren, Carly Adams, Kelsi Lofton, twins Chloe and Vance Montgomery, Kayce Malone, Jared Wright, Billy Dayon, and Stephen and Kaitlyn Mellinger; as well as numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Patricia and Mary Linda; brother Jesse John; son Robert Charles.

A service to honor his life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Central Baptist Church in Robeline. A committal service with military honors will follow at Central Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Central Baptist Church located at 1800 Central Loop, Robeline, LA 71469.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Scott Moon, Vance Montgomery, Triston Jones, Brandon Mancil, Joe D. Miller, Pat Miller, Randy Larkin and James Dobson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Cotton, Bart Cotton, John Malone, Michael Miller, and Brandon Dobson.
