Raymond I. Peterson, age 91, passed away on August 28, 2021 in Surprise, Arizona.
Ray was born on December 18, 1929 in Winona, Minnesota to Raymond and Esther (Aug) Peterson. Ray grew up on his family farm, and learned to work hard at a young age, when his own father passed at age 12.

He met his wife Beverly at a card party. They were married June 11, 1955 in the Fountain Lutheran Church. Ray and Beverly owned their own farm near Chatfield, Minnesota, until the cold winters caused them to look for a home in a warmer climate.

In 1974, Ray and Beverly sold their family farm and moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona with their three children, Dean, Diana and Daren.

Ray built the family home in Prescott Valley and after its completion, he earned his real estate license. He worked in the real estate business for a short time and then returned to trucking to support his family. While trucking, Ray enjoyed owning & operating his own truck and as well as the responsibilities of being self-employed.

In his off time, he enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Ray was quite a talker and was rarely at a loss for words; he loved to tell stories of growing up in Minnesota and of course trucking!

In 1995, Ray and Beverly moved to Glendale, Arizona to be near their daughter Diana and their grandchildren.

In their retirement years, Ray and Bev took many cross-country trips in their RV to explore the country and get away from the summer heat of Phoenix. Ray and Beverly went on to enjoy 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2016.

Ray is survived by his 2 children Daren and Diana and 3 grandchildren, Megan, Blake and Garrett. He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne, sister Laurel, son Dean and wife Beverly.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11 AM, with a viewing 1-hour prior, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 4001 W Beardsley Rd, Glendale, AZ. Raymond will be laid to rest at the Resthaven Cemetery in Glendale, AZ with his wife Beverly.
