Hamilton Richard ("Dick") Francis 88, of Philadelphia, PA died September 6, 2021 at his home in Jenkintown, PA. Richard was born in Millbury, MA , September, 25 1932 of Thomas Andrew Hamilton and Mary Elizabeth (nee McDonald).

He attended Holy Cross College on an ROTC scholarship, proudly served as a Naval Officer on the USS Capricornus (AKA-57) at the end of the Korean War, and went on to receive an MS in Chemistry from Boston College. A research chemist, he married Marie Teodora (nee Iorio), also a chemist, in 1960. They raised six children in St. Donato Parish in the Haddington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son, with a deep commitment to his faith and his family. He lovingly cared for Marie during her final years. He was an avid runner with a love for poetry and embraced every chance to be outdoors, surrounded by nature.

Richard is survived by his six children Richard J. (Elizabeth), Gabrielle, Michael, Christopher (Kathleen), Elizabeth Crowley (Timothy), and Louis (Lydia), as well as twelve grandchildren Richard, Catherine, Aidan, John, Mary, Christopher, Francis, Peter, Fiona, Kevin, Iris, and Lily, in addition to his sister, Mary Janet Mart (Michael). He is predeceased by his wife Marie, older brother Thomas, and older sister Nancy Mallio (William).

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 9:30 AM- 10:20 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 602 West Ave, Jenkintown, PA 19046. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
