Mildred Josephine 'Millie' Harty was the younger daughter of nee
James Harty, a pig buyer and Bridget née Lyddy of Cathedral Place, Limerick. Her father died around the time she was born, she had two older siblings John born 1893 and Rose 1896-1912. Millie married Ivan Harris, of 'Overdale', Ennis Road, Limerick on 29th September 1920 in St Munchin's Church, Limerick. They had eight children together, two daughters and six sons; Harriet May 'Harmay', Mary Audrey, James 'Jimmy', Patrick Ivan, Richard 'Dickie', Noel, Diarmid Gerard 'Dermot' and William. She died on 12th December 1959* at her home 'Overdale', her cause of death was carcinomatosis adenocarcinoma of ovary about 2 years certified. *Year of death confirmed by her death certificate, and cemetery records. She was predeceased by her younger daughter Audrey, she was interred in the Harris family plot in Mount Saint Lawrence, with her daughter and in-laws and later her husband, elder daughter, three sons, son-in-law, two daughters-in-law and a granddaughter.
She was the mother of actor Richard Harris and director Dermot Harris.
