OBITUARY
Paul Richard Henry
January 13, 1933 – December 5, 2020
Paul Henry, aged 87, passed peacefully on December 5, 2020 to enter the Lord's house.
Paul was born on January 13, 1933 in Union City, Pennsylvania, which he always called "God's Country" to the late Nellie (Shearer) and Oscar Henry. Paul was preceded in death by his brothers Keith and Carland his sister Phyllis. Paul was allergic to cats, so of course his sister would always include prolific amounts of cat hair in the envelopes of the letters sent to Paul while he was in the US Army during the Korean War and later while studying for his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Tri-State University in Indiana. Paul also received a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering at Wayne State University. Paul spent his entire career and retired from Ford Motor Company.
On May 19, 1962, Paul married Iris (Giorgetti) in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Paul and Iris had 4 children, Mark (Kornrattha), Robert, Paul and Daniel (Cheryl). Paul adored his 5 wonderful grandchildren that were the light of his life: Maggie, John, Olivia, Maddox, and Elizabeth. Iris preceded him in death in 2003.
Paul was a proud member of the Living Hope Evangelical Church. He gave selflessly of his time and skills at the church. He enjoyed church missions to Mexico to build homes and schools for the poor as well as his time building homes with Habitat for Humanity in Detroit. Paul loved to visit his grandchildren by taking Amtrak trains across the country being less stressful than flying. Paul was the genealogist of the family and spent countless hours tracing the Henry family history to the 1600s in Scotland and Ireland, and the Giorgetti family in Italy.
Paul will be remembered for his love of God, his family and his country. Paul was always generous with his time and counsel, and would be the first to help anyone that needed it. His easy smile, kind words and laughter would always brighten the day.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements being handled by A. H. Peters Funeral Home of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.
