David Kent Mills, age 80 of Troy, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.

He was born on April 9, 1941 in Middletown, OH to the late Mark Thomas Mills and Dorothy Henninger Mills.

In addition to his parents, Kent is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Middleton Mills and his chess partner and colleague, Jan Horner.

Those left to cherish Kent's memory include his son Eric Mills of Oakwood, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Renee T. (Mills) and Ryan Poling of Lancaster, OH; and life long friends Dan Wilkin and Dave Miltenberger, both of Middletown, OH.

Kent received his Bachelors of Psychology from Miami University and went on to receive his Masters of Psychology from the University of Dayton. Kent became licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in 1975. He served for the Army National Guard. Kent was an avid chess player and loved animals. He enjoyed cross country running in his younger years which turned into him staying physically fit, he enjoyed going to the local YMCA where he would run and lift weights. He belonged to the American Psychology Association.

A celebration of Kent's life will be held from 2:00PM-4:00PM on Sunday, October 17, 2021 on the third floor of the Troy Hayner Cultural Center: 301 W Main St in Troy.
