Violetta Amalia Moser was born the daughter of Carl and Louise (Fritz) Herzog on January 15, 1920 in Osterdock. She passed away Monday, November 26, 2007, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Violetta attended the Osterdock Country School and farmed for several years. On May 10, 1939 she was united in marriage with James Moser at St. John's Lutheran Church. Together they raised four children and farmed near Osterdock until James died on September 30, 1955. After his death Violetta ran the farm and raised the children on her own strength. In her later years, Violetta spent time working for the Guttenberg Press. Violetta enjoyed going to dances at Lakeside with her girlfriends, spending time working on genealogy and spending time working with her flowers and being with her family and friends. She was also a member of Dorcas and enjoyed traveling. Some of her destinations included Washington D.C., Hawaii, Canada and Germany. Violetta's memory will be cherished by her children, Carla (Bob) Ferguson of Guttenberg, Robert Moser of Cedar Rapids and Marla "Jeannie" (David) Berns of Walker, IA; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; daughter in law Linda Bothwell and sisters-in-law Mary Bockenstedt, Willie Moser, and Bernice Moser. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Dale; daughter in law Verla Moser; six siblings, Maggie Moser, Mae Kregel, Clarence Noack, Opal Tuecke, Malinda Meyer and Earl Herzog.
