Betty Sue graduated from Bixby High School in 1952, where she served as Drum Major during her senior year. She played the french horn and grew to have a deep love and appreciation for music. While in high school she made a close-knit group of friends, where she and "The Girls" stayed in touch and met regularly their whole lives.
She worked for over 30 years at McDonald-Douglas in Tulsa and St. Louis as an executive secretary. Upon retirement she and Bob served as founding board members of the MDT retiree's club.
Soon after retirement, Betty Sue began volunteering as a docent at the Philbrook Art Museum. She enjoyed being a member of a local investment club, singing in the church choir, shopping for bargains, attending Hyechka concerts as well as local collegiate sporting events, and decorating her home. It was not uncommon for her to deliver food to her friends in their time of need. After her grandson and his wife moved to England in 2018, she made several trips to Europe, and greatly enjoyed all the walking and sightseeing, visiting 5 countries in 18 months. She also enjoyed hosting her extended family for meals, reunions and the "Hargrove Bash." Betty loved being a mother and grandmother, but especially cherished her most recent role of GiGi. She was a lifelong dog lover, and her devoted companion for the last 13 years was her beloved Papillon, Jake.
