Mr. Roy Edward Allen, Sr., age 94, of Atlanta, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at a local hospital.
Mr. Allen was born in Jones County, Georgia on July 4, 1927, son of the late Robert Allen and the late Ella Lou Wilson Allen. He was a member of Snellville First Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Irene Brock Allen, by 5 brothers, by 1 sister, and by his stepfather, Joe Didrick, Sr.
Mr. Allen is survived by his children, Roy Allen, Jr. (Susan), Debra Crosby, Robert Allen, and Randall Allen; his 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Didrick (Melba); numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021, at 2:00 pm at East View Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Glosson officiating. The American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard will present military honors.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, from 12:00 pm until 1:30pm.
