Larry Thompson Watson Sr., of Federal Way, Washington, passed away September 4, 2021, at the VA Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He was surrounded by his wife Kathy, son Larry Jr., and daughter Rosita during the last moments of his life.
Larry was born May 31st, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1973. He then joined the United States Air Force, and while in the Air Force married his former partner Julieta Watson. After retiring from the Air Force, Larry remained in Washington State.
Larry enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an active member in church, his Masonic organization, and had a passion for music. He also enjoyed helping others, adopting others as his own family, feeding the needy, handing out blankets and essential necessities, supporting the Obama campaign, going to the casino; and he had the pleasure of doing so with his loving wife and partner, Kathy Betts Watson. Married on November 15th, 2010, Larry and Kathy also enjoyed traveling together and selling suites and dresses from their store Kustom Fashions in Tacoma, Washington.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy Betts Watson; mother of his children, Julieta Watson; daughters, Stephanie Racke and Rosita Watson-McKnight; son, Larry Watson Jr.; adopted daughter, Bernadette Logan (Donta); grandchildren, Breanna, Sileia, Johnni, La'Ria, Kaelyn, and Fredrick Eugene "Prince"; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members, some not by blood, but by love. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Johnson Watson and son Michael Saleeby. He will be truly missed. #Longliveblackstrawberry
Larrywill have two Celebrations of Life services: on Friday, Oct 1, 2021, the viewing will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 1211 S I St, Tacoma, WA 98405, from 1pm-5pm followed by the Masonic Order of Eastern Star service at 6pm. Then, on Saturday Oct. 2nd, his Homegoing service, also at Shiloh Baptist Church, will begin at 11am. The burial will follow soon after the service with escorts to the New Tacoma Cemetery located at 9212 Chambers Creek Rd W, University Place, WA 98467. Repass will then take place at the Caballeros Club located at 1516 S 28th St, Tacoma, WA 98409 at 3pm.
