A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Calvary Cemetery in Quincy. Deacon Wayne Zimmerman will officiate.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy.
Rich was born April 8, 1971, in Quincy, IL to Richard M. and Peggy J. (Robertson) Newman Sr.
Survivors include one son, Dalton Newman of Quincy, IL; one sister, Amy (Peter) Sylvester of Woodbury, NJ; two nephews, Austin Sylvester and Andrew Sylvester; and one uncle, Mark (Linda) Newman of Quincy, IL.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents; two uncles, Edgar Newman and Gary Newman; and one aunt, Patty Smith.
Rich was employed as a phone technician for Ameritec, Frontier Communications, and Quincy Medical Group. He was also a volunteer E.M.T for Adams County and a Tri-Township Volunteer Fireman.
Rich loved the outdoors, with his favorite activities being camping, riding four-wheelers, and fishing for bass and catfish. Rich was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Quincy Gun Club, and would frequently play golf at the Westview Golf Course. If Rich wasn't outside, you could find him watching Cardinals baseball or NASCAR and cheering for his favorite driver Ryan Newman. He also enjoyed listening to country music and grilling up steaks and pork loins. Rich will be remembered for his volunteerism and outgoing personality.
Rich was recently consecrated into the Catholic Faith.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Solanus Church.
