Baton Rouge native (Mayfair) Cheryl Lynn Hawkins "Chea", age 57, peacefully transitioned surrounded by close family on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She is preceded in glory by her parents, Edward Van Hawkins and Rosa B. Hawkins, three brothers Edward "Ja-Bo" Hawkins, Darryl Wayne "D-Boy" Hawkins, and Charles Dennis Hawkins. Cheryl was born on March 28, 1964 in New Orleans, La. to the late Edward and Rosa Hawkins. She was the baby girl and the 6th of eight children. She was a 1982 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School (Baton Rouge, La). In 1999, she moved to Smyrna, Georgia, where she resided until moving back to Louisiana in June of 2021. She worked in the Hospitality industry (Holiday Inn) for over 15 years, but retired to focus more on her love for people and helping people through her life coaching business, New Venture Coaching (Smyrna, Georgia). Besides spending time with her family and friends, "Chea" loved to travel, the beach, and helping people to become the absolute best versions of themselves. She was energetic, full of life, and genuinely cared for all she encountered. She is survived by her loving siblings, Brenda Smothers (Baton Rouge, La), Linda Franklin (Baton Rouge, La), Deidre King (Alfred King, Baltimore, Maryland), and Dion Hawkins Sr (Baton Rouge, La), a God sister and close cousin, Kathy Hawkins, one Goddaughter, Lucretia Franklin Stewart (Bryan Stewart, Baton Rouge, La), a loving companion and friend, Lord Ajmer (Savannah, Georgia), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be Monday, September 13, 2021 from 9 am-10 am at Israelite Baptist Church, 1841 Thomas H. Delpit Dr., Baton Rouge, La 70802. Funeral services to follow immediately after.
