Born September 23, 1961 in Blackshear, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Hazel McKinnon Sims. He had lived all of his life in Pierce County and was a veteran, having served with the United States Army for 23 years. He was employed with the Pierce County Road Department for 39 years and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ursrey Sims of Blackshear; 4 daughters, Amanda Crews of Blackshear, Tiffany Sims of Blackshear, Hannah Sims of Savannah, and Brittany Sims (fiancé Chris Rowland) of Alma; 3 grandchildren, Oakley, Raiden, and Jude Crews; his beloved dog, Bake; siblings, Donna O'Berry of Blackshear, Mary Ammons (husband Donnie), William Sims (wife Sheena), Diane Strickland (husband Charlie), Andy Sims (wife Sharon), Dollie Ganey (husband Gary), and Wayne Sims, all of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Sunday afternoon (9/12/21) at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday one hour prior to the service.
Masks will be required for the visitation and funeral.
