Mr. Sammy Lee Harris, 55 a resident of 4153 Shock Overton Road, Oxford died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Sammy was educated in the Granville County School System. He was a faithful employee of Mt. Hope in Butner, North Carolina for thirty-five years. Sammy was fun-loving and loved to make others laugh. He also loved to fish, hunt and work in the garden.
Those left to cherish his memories include; a loving and devoted friend, Merrell Faye Seward; three loving children, Tara Royster, Quentin Harris and Jasmine Harris; one step-son, Lamont Seward; three sisters, Mary Ann Thorpe (Andrew), Emma Harris and Priscilla Harris all of Oxford; three brothers, James Harris of Durham, NC, Carlton Harris (Nancie) and Tommie Harris both of Oxford, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Betts & Son Funeral Home Chapel with eulogy by Bishop James Daniel. Interment will follow in the Only Way Church of Christ Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the funeral home.
