Robert Duane SALTSMAN was my father.

He was the first of two children of Anna BOSTWICK (1903-1997) and Lloyd SALTSMAN (1891-1970).

He was born in Johnstown, New York and grew up there until enlisting in the Army Air Corps on November 5, 1942 at age 19. He spent most of WW II in China in the Army Air Corps being discharged December 14, 1945. His discharge papers state that he was in the 396th Signal Corps. His occupaption is listed as "Intercept Operator 739."

1951
On June 9, 1951, he married Helen Kathleen "Kathy" FOSTER(1929) at the Fifteenth Street Methodist Church in Huntingdon, PA. They had four children.

1983
Eastview Union Cemetery, Delmont, PA
He is buried at the far back of the cemetery on the far left. The sign at the front of the cemetery says "Eastview Union Cemetery." The cemetery is located right beside the Salem Lutheran Church in Delmont.

His gravestone says "M-SGT" which stands for Master Sergeant. His discharge papers say "S-SGT" which stands for Staff Sergeant. According to my research, Staff Sergeant is two ranks below Master Sergeant. I believe the gravestone is in error.
