This is the cemetery of Hixie's parents, Joseph Bonaparte Baskett & Mary Burroughs. The Harrises in this cemetery are children of Hixie & her husband, Rev. Snethen Philip Johnson Harris, along with two infant burials who were their gr-grandchildren (grandchildren of Leonidas Melanchthon Harris.)

Hixie B. Baskett md S.P.J. Harris on 20 Dec 1857 in Granville Co. It is not known whether her middle initial represented her mother's maiden name of "Burroughs," or that of her grandmother, "Hixie Brown," for whom she appears to have been named.

Hixie's husband, Rev. S.P.J. Harris, was the son of the Rev. Willis Harris (1785-1854) & Sarah Duty of Granville County. (Rev. Willis Harris published a very large book in 1821, which contained the sermons of his brother, Rev. Fletcher Harris. The book is entitled, "Sermons on Important Subjects by the late Rev. Fletcher Harris, an Itinerant Minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church.")

Rev. S.P.J Harris was also a land surveyor who held the post of county surveyor for Granville. He surveyed the lines to carve the new Vance County, formed in 1881. Once formed, S.P.J. took the post as Vance County's surveyor.
