Summary: Joshua Fretz, 83, died early this morning in Northumberland County Institutional Hospital on Trevorton Road from injuries sustained two weeks ago, when he fractured a hip in a fall at the former Mount Carmel poor farm near Deibler Station.
An old age pensioner, residing in the boarding house.
Son of James W. and Caroline (Gruver) Fretz, born December 20, 1855 at Catasuaqua, trade was a coppersmith. Came to Shamokin 33 years ago, for some years employed by Shamokin Borough on its street maintenance force.
Survivors: three sisters, Mrs. Olive Olmsted, Mrs. Charles Ritter and Mrs. John Ruhf, all of Allentown; a brother, Preston Fretz, and two nephews, John Fretz and Howard Wil??e, of Shamokin.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows' Cemetery.
NOTE: Some records spell his given name Josiah and others spell it Joshua.
