Vickie was born on July 27, 1950 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, where her family owned The Bank Josephine, the Harkins Law Office and, later, Harkins Mineral Associates. Vickie was a graduate of Cardome Centre in Georgetown, Kentucky, and a lifelong resident of Lexington, Kentucky. During her life she stayed active with her family, running a successful business, and volunteering in the community. She was the founder and owner of Reeds 'N Weeds, a local plant and foliage company which provided and maintained indoor plants and Christmas decorations to businesses around Lexington. Vickie proudly served for many years as one of the past Presidents of Aids Volunteers of Lexington (A.V.O.L). Her aptitude for business and financial management suited her for her roles as a bookkeeper at Central Bank and later for Hamilton Coal and Land, where she served as President for many years. In years past, she loved to travel on extended trips to Hawaii and Florida. Vickie loved to cook for her family and friends, root for her beloved UK Wildcats, and visit any and all flea markets in and around the Lexington area. She was a creative person who loved and excelled in decorating. Lately she developed an interest in online shopping and for connecting with family and friends through Facebook. Vickie was known for spending hours into the night sending photos and messages to her family and friends. She was a lifelong pet lover, especially for her four very special dogs. She always enjoyed it when someone came to visit and offered to stop off and pick up a "Lerge Hamburger" for her.
